Stand Back and Stand Ready
25th Amendment
The 25th Amendment, proposed by Congress and ratified by the states in the aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, provides the procedures for replacing the president or vice-president in the event of death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation. The Watergate scandal of the 1970s saw the application of these procedures, first when Gerald Ford replaced Spiro Agnew as vice-president, then when he replaced Richard Nixon as president, and then when Nelson Rockefeller filled the resulting vacancy to become the vice-president.
Remember when he was in the Oval Office last time? Some of us kind of questioned his sanity that time, also. He was lying like a cross-eyed coyote holding a pack meeting under a full moon. He was howling his demands amid what would be best described as brief moments of partial lucidity and passion for his own speaking voice.
There is only one like him and, right now, one is way too many! We should be more on our "game" this time, however. We certainly know what to expect of him.
My concern is our "backup." It is crutial that the Legislators, Justice Department, and U.S. Supreme Court are working on behalf of the American People and not the Republican/MAGA party!
There is a very special reason the 25th Amendment was included in our Constitution. It outlines the removal of the president under a variety of reasons.
It is none too soon to be thinking about this because the way he has started out is a head-banger as to what else he has in store for us. I would guess he is under the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office and drawing plans with his big-boy tablet and sharpie pens. As we all know, the Resolute Desk is special. It is made from the timbers of the British ship HMS Resolute. It was abandoned and discovered by an American vessel. Queen Victoria commissioned the desk after the ship was retired. In 1880, Queen Victoria gifted the desk to President Ruthereford B. Hayes and it has been in the Oval Office ever since.
He may be seen hiding under the Resolute. Perhaps he was under it after attending Bishop Budde's services this week. Her "crime" was asking him to have mercy on the frightened people! He, in turn, called her "nasty" and ask her to apologize. She has refused because she has said nothing to apologize for!
He, on the other hand, is wildly drawing pictures of Bishop Budde on his big-boy tablet and his sharpie pens. . . under the ol' Resolute!
And so. . . Something Evil This Way Comes!
and...what a contrast in character, morals, values, ethics. humanity...and the ability to call someone out with kindness....we need our elected officials to have the courage to call him out....oh yeah, mostly old white men.....
