It appears Trump and most of the Republicans are going to get their way with our public schools. The GOP has been wanting to get their greedy paws on our public school funds since Trump was in little boy pants.
And that would be possible if they can torpedo the Federal Education Department and hand it to individual states.
Think about it. All of that money and power dropped into the paws of "red" states. There goes about 75% of public school funding, total control of public curriculums, and private and charter schools will pop up like weeds everywhere. . . with most of the money going to them!
This, of course, is an extreme picture, but in today's politics, maybe it isn't, either. When the Republicans can get this close to a lifelong dream, who knows? Most of us never saw a time when the Federal Education building would become Musk's new and remodeled Internation DOGE Tower.
The rule of law has been tweaked a little and it sure ain't pretty. If you can't afford to get your little darlings into a private school in Montana, there will always be the public school in the former Bob's Bowling Lanes.
Teachers will be heading to "red" States where they will be able to pay a liveable wage and "blue" state teachers will be signing up for parttime work to help with their groceries and health insurance.
...and every college-age youngster will head straight to the applications for work as a teacher!
